This is a painting from our last holiday in Provence France. It is the Mairie or Town Hall of Roussillon, which is a much visited village in this area. It has been built on top of a cliff of yellow ochre deposits and this has been mined since medieval times. Of course, artists will know this from the rich yellow pigment that this ore makes in their watercolour and oil paintbox. I loved this because of the shadows and the pinky yellow render.
